Take a look in the mirror.

We often get emails at Mama Said Tees thanking us for the work we are doing to make the world a better place, and though they are unbelievably flattering, I always remind people that they too can make the world a better place. They just have to do it. If you want more kindness in the world you need to put it there. We look to leaders, celebrities, coaches, teachers, parents, etc…to make a difference, but we need to start looking in the mirror.

I can’t speak for CS, but I personally don’t have sunshine coming out of my ass. I don’t think this world is full of unicorns & rainbows, but I do think that EVERYONE has the power to make it a better place. Yes, that means you too! Our greatest leaders are remembered because they were stand up people. They were kind. They respected others. Their actions spoke louder than words. But at the end of the day they were just humans. Humans like you and me. Humans who chose to make a difference. Humans who chose to leave a mark that people would talk about for years to come. Not everyone will go down in history this way, but that is their story to leave behind, not yours. YOU have the ability to write your own story. YOU decide what kind of mark you will leave on this earth. You have the power to be the kind of person you want to be. Leave a mark you can be proud of, one that people will be honored to talk about. Have beliefs and opinions and stand up for what you believe in, but for fuck’s sake, be a decent human being while you’re doing it. Don’t tear each other down to build yourself up. It doesn’t work like that.

The world is crazy. It really is. Like WHY is there such thing as Caillou?! And WHY do people drink decaf?! I don’t have the answers for these questions, but what I do know is that today I’m going to make sure I’m the best version of myself. I’m going to write another chapter of my story and I’m going to make it worth telling. Are you?
